The Opportunity
The consultancy aims to expand and enhance its ecological presence across the UK by appointing an Ecology Business Unit Lead for London and the South East. With a successful track record and longstanding teams, the new lead will have significant autonomy in leading, shaping, and growing teams based in London and Sussex. Responsibilities include engaging with clients and partners, pursuing opportunities, recruiting new talent, improving processes, driving innovation, and developing new initiatives. As a senior team member, you will work with the Head of Ecology and other Business Unit Leads, playing a vital role in mentoring, developing, and ensuring the success of the wider Ecology Division and the consultancy as a whole. Additionally, you will manage key client accounts and support the development of other teams and service propositions.
On a daily basis, you will act as project manager/director as appropriate. With continued investment in new services such as Environmental Net Gain and Natural Capital, there will be opportunities to develop and apply your skills in these areas, collaborating across different divisions and business units on various projects.
Role Requirements
As part of the Senior Team, you will play a crucial role in realizing the consultancy's ambitions. You should be a talented professional with extensive expertise, bringing a self-starting entrepreneurial attitude, potential as both a disruptor and collaborator, and thriving in a community of innovators and problem-solvers. The team collectively leverages ingenuity, experience, passion, and technology to build trust with clients and deliver sustainable legacies.
You should be a highly experienced ecologist with proven senior director-level experience or looking to make a significant step up. Extensive consultancy experience is likely, and you should be eager to join a large, successful independent SME where you can directly influence change, control the direction and performance of the business, and share in its success.
