About the Role

At Ocean to Earth Recruitment, we love partnering with consultancies that break the mould. This is one of those rare gems — a business where innovation, energy, and community are more than just buzzwords. They live it, breathe it, and hire for it.

We’re on the lookout for a Senior Ecologist to join a consultancy that’s doing things differently. This is your chance to elevate your ecology career in a place where your ideas matter, your wellbeing is prioritised (hello, 3-day weekends!), and your work really means something.

🌟 Why This Consultancy?

Because they’ve created a workplace that’s anything but conventional:

4-day working week – full-time salary, one less day at your desk
✅ An open, collaborative culture where everyone contributes ideas
✅ Innovation is encouraged — the path less travelled is often the one taken
✅ People-first, always — support, wellbeing, and genuine connection come first

You’ll join a friendly, cross-disciplinary team working across ecology, arboriculture, and landscape — with big ambitions and a bigger heart.

🌿 The Role

You’ll be a senior voice in the ecology team — leading projects, mentoring junior consultants, and driving high standards. From habitat surveys to licensing, you’ll take ownership of meaningful projects that make a difference. You’ll also help steer the business forward, using your network and know-how to spot opportunities and win new work.

Expect variety, autonomy, and the freedom to challenge how things have always been done.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Project leadership, management, and client liaison

  • Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs)

  • EcIA and HRA assessments

  • BNG reporting and strategy

  • Protected species surveys and licensing

  • Mentoring junior team members

  • Input into business development and team strategy

🧠 What You’ll Bring

  • A strong academic background in Ecology or Biological Sciences

  • CIEEM membership (Chartership a bonus!)

  • Confident communication and a passion for building client relationships

  • Strong technical skills in habitat classification and species surveys

  • Licences for protected species (bonus points)

  • Experience leading projects from proposal to delivery

  • A collaborative mindset and a drive to do things better

  • Full UK driving licence

🎉 What’s in It for You?

💡 A genuine 4-day working week (on full pay)
💬 A company culture built on openness, collaboration, and good humour
🏡 Hybrid, flexible working options
📈 Career development and support to grow in all directions
💰 Salary: £39,390 - £46,590 (+ £3,000 London weighting)
