Ocean to Earth Recruitment is proud to be working with a well-established, environmentally-focused consultancy to find a passionate Senior Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant to join their dynamic and collaborative Flood and Climate Risk Team.

This role offers the chance to work on a variety of engaging planning and due diligence projects across public and private sectors, with a supportive and growth-driven environment.


The Role:

As a Senior Consultant within the Water Services team, you’ll play a key role in delivering flood risk and drainage projects from concept to completion. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading projects from inception through to delivery, building technical, project management, and commercial expertise.

  • Producing high-quality Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, and Flood Scoping Reports to support planning submissions.

  • Developing conceptual drainage designs using SuDS principles and producing drainage plans.

  • Delivering Flood Risk Appraisals for investor and pension fund clients, identifying risks and advising on practical mitigation.

  • Exploring emerging areas such as nutrient neutrality and ESG-related services.

  • Building and nurturing client relationships, while collaborating with other technical disciplines.

  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members in their professional development.


What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • A proactive, resourceful mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong communication skills and a desire to continue professional development.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Geography) or equivalent experience.

  • At least 4 years’ experience in flood risk and drainage consultancy.

  • Experience managing projects and working with clients and statutory consultees.

  • Familiarity with planning policies and regulatory frameworks.

  • Proficiency with GIS software such as QGIS.

Desirable:

  • Experience using MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage and AutoCAD.

  • Strong commercial awareness.

  • Experience in detailed drainage design.

  • Membership of a professional body and an ambition toward chartered status.
