About the Role

You will take a leading role in delivering a diverse portfolio of ecological and environmental projects across the UK and Ireland. This includes schemes ranging from residential developments and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments to nationally significant infrastructure projects.

As a Project Manager, you will be accountable for the full project lifecycle, from initial scoping and resource planning through to delivery, client engagement, and financial performance. You will work closely with technical specialists, mentor junior team members, and ensure projects are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and to a high professional standard.

This position suits someone who combines ecological understanding with strong project leadership, and who is motivated by delivering meaningful environmental outcomes alongside commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of ecological projects, ensuring quality, budget, and programme objectives are met
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and resource allocations
  • Act as the primary client contact, maintaining strong relationships and providing clear, proactive communication
  • Oversee project financial performance, including forecasting, cost control, and invoicing
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including ecologists and environmental specialists
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, planning conditions, and best practice standards
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project momentum
  • Review and contribute to technical outputs, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Support and mentor junior staff, contributing to team development and capability growth
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and systems

About You

You are a confident project leader who brings both organisational discipline and a genuine interest in ecology and environmental impact. You are comfortable managing complexity, engaging with stakeholders at all levels, and making informed decisions in a fast-moving consultancy environment.

You will likely bring:

  • Proven experience managing projects within ecology, environmental consultancy, or a related sector
  • Strong understanding of ecological survey work, planning processes, and environmental regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, programmes, and client relationships
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A structured, detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving capability
  • Experience working with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches)
  • Confidence in leading teams and supporting professional development

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) frameworks
  • Experience working on infrastructure or large-scale development projects
  • Familiarity with ecological data collection and reporting standards
  • Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation

What You Can Expect

  • A varied and engaging project portfolio with real environmental impact
  • Opportunities to shape project delivery and influence business improvement
  • A collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Ongoing professional development and training support
  • Flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance
  • A strong organisational culture that values both technical excellence and team contribution

Why This Role Matters

This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in balancing development with environmental stewardship. Your work will directly contribute to sustainable land use, biodiversity enhancement, and responsible infrastructure delivery.
