Ocean to Earth Recruitment is delighted to be working with a leading independent environmental consultancy to find an experienced and passionate Principal EIA Consultant to join their growing team based in Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile infrastructure, renewable energy, and major development projects. While the role is ideally full-time, part-time options can be considered for the right candidate.

The Role
As a Principal EIA Consultant, you will play a key role in managing environmental inputs to large-scale development projects from early strategy through to planning submission and beyond. You will work closely with technical specialists and design teams to embed environmental considerations into project designs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the coordination of environmental inputs into project planning and design

  • Preparing high-quality EIA documentation including Screening and Scoping Reports, Environmental Statements, and Preliminary Environmental Information Reports

  • Engaging with clients, regulators, and other key stakeholders

  • Supporting Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) projects where applicable

  • Assisting with fee proposals, project financial management, and business development activities

  • Providing mentorship and leadership to junior consultants

  • Managing project deliverables to ensure deadlines and client expectations are met

Skills and Experience Required

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental discipline

  • Excellent knowledge of EIA processes, UK environmental legislation, and planning regimes

  • Broad technical understanding across multiple environmental topics

  • Proven experience in leading the production of EIA reports and assessments

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Organised project management approach with financial oversight experience

  • Line management or team mentoring experience is an advantage
