About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is proud to be working with a well-established, mission-led environmental consultancy that has been delivering positive ecological change for over 30 years. With a strong reputation across the UK and a growing team, they’re now looking to appoint Principal Ecologists in several key locations.

This organisation blends technical excellence with a values-driven approach—focusing on nature-based solutions, long-term impact, and a supportive internal culture that helps people thrive.

Why This Role Is a Standout Opportunity

This is a leadership role that allows you to:

  • Deliver and oversee complex ecological projects across a variety of sectors

  • Support and mentor early-career ecologists, fostering talent and team growth

  • Shape strategy and influence ecological design decisions at a senior level

  • Be part of a consultancy that genuinely values purpose, people, and the planet

You'll be joining a business that combines national reach with local knowledge and is investing in both people and the latest technology to remain at the forefront of ecological consultancy.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We're seeking experienced ecologists who bring:

  • Strong expertise in UK habitat and protected species assessments

  • Confidence in technical reporting, QA, and leading best practice standards

  • A solid understanding of environmental legislation and planning frameworks

  • Client-facing experience and excellent communication skills

  • Proven ability in project delivery and line management

  • A relevant degree in ecology or a related field (postgraduate preferred)

  • Survey or mitigation licences (a bonus, not a requirement)

  • A collaborative, proactive attitude and a keen eye for detail

What You’ll Gain

This consultancy is committed to professional development and staff wellbeing. When you join their team, you’ll benefit from:

  • A values-led, inclusive and flexible work culture

  • Access to training, mentoring, and leadership opportunities

  • Involvement in high-impact, meaningful projects

  • Competitive salary and tailored benefits package

  • The tools and trust to advance your career on your terms

Make Your Next Move Count

If you're ready to step into a role where you can lead with purpose, grow a team, and drive positive environmental change—we’d love to hear from you.
