About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a forward-thinking and fast-growing ecological consultancy based in South Leicestershire, supporting projects across the Midlands and beyond. Our client is known for delivering high-quality, accessible ecological services with a strong focus on work-life balance, professional development, and a supportive team culture.

They are now looking to grow their team with a full-time Ecologist or Senior Ecologist, offering a standout 4-day working week (32 hours, Monday to Thursday) as standard – without compromising on salary or development opportunities.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • 4-day working week (Monday–Thursday, full-time salary)

  • Fully remote with flexibility and autonomy

  • Join a small, collaborative, and values-driven team

  • Work on a diverse range of ecological projects

  • Career growth, mentoring, and CPD support

About the Role

You’ll be a key member of the consultancy’s ecology team, working closely with senior colleagues to deliver surveys, assessments, and reports for a variety of small to medium-sized development projects. Whether you're stepping into a senior role or looking to develop your skills further, there’s plenty of scope for learning, responsibility, and progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out UK Habitat Classification and protected species surveys

  • Producing a range of ecological reports including PEAs, PRAs, BNG assessments, and EcIAs

  • Preparing protected species licence applications and habitat management plans

  • Mapping and BNG calculations using QGIS and Coreo

  • Advising clients on ecological risks and enhancements

  • Liaising with stakeholders and ensuring compliance with legislation

  • Contributing to biodiversity strategies and the consultancy’s continued growth

Who We’re Looking For

This opportunity is suited to ecologists who are based within the Midlands region (or nearby) and are happy working from home with occasional travel for fieldwork and team meetings.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Degree in ecology, biology, environmental science or equivalent experience

  • Relevant ecological consultancy experience

  • Eligibility for (or membership of) CIEEM

  • Strong field survey skills including habitat and botanical ID

  • Experience with BNG assessments and habitat management planning

  • Comfortable using QGIS (or similar GIS platforms)

  • Excellent written communication and reporting skills

  • Holds at least one protected species licence (desirable)

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car

What’s On Offer

  • Competitive salary: £30,000 – £45,000

  • 4-day (32hr) full-time week

  • Remote working with regular in-person catch-ups

  • Flexible TOIL arrangements during peak season

  • Generous annual leave: 20 days (rising with service) + Bank Holidays

  • Additional paid day off for your birthday

  • Training budget and ongoing CPD support

  • Contributory pension scheme

  • Discretionary annual bonus

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a modern, flexible consultancy that truly values its people. If you're ready to be part of a team that prioritises quality work, ecological integrity, and a sustainable work-life balance – we’d love to hear from you.
