About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary consultancy to appoint a commercially driven and strategically minded Commercial Director.

This is a senior leadership opportunity within an organisation known for its enthusiastic and collaborative team of planners, environmental consultants, engineers, designers, and health & safety professionals. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the company’s commercial strategy in alignment with its broader vision and objectives.

  • Head up the commercial and operational finance teams, providing strong leadership and promoting a high-performance culture.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, project managers, corporate finance, clients, and external partners.

  • Take ownership of commercial negotiations, pricing models, and contractual terms to ensure optimal financial outcomes.

  • Deliver clear and accurate reporting to the executive team on key financial and commercial performance indicators, including profit centre tracking.

  • Design and implement strategies to reduce aged WIP, manage write-offs, and mitigate financial risk.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operational delivery and ensure alignment with commercial goals.

  • Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and financial compliance across all activities.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve the company’s financial performance and governance structures.

  • Champion financial discipline and commercial awareness across the wider organisation.

  • Oversee and refine budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes.

  • Identify and drive system and process improvements to increase commercial effectiveness.

  • Represent the business on commercial and financial matters both internally and externally.

  • Strengthen cash flow management and embed risk mitigation measures.

  • Contribute to long-term business value and enterprise growth.


Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Commercial Director, Finance Director, or similar senior-level commercial role, ideally within a consultancy environment.

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in commercial or financial leadership, including at least 3 years in an executive or board-level position.

  • Track record of shaping and delivering impactful commercial and financial strategies.

  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

  • High level of commercial awareness with robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Degree-qualified in Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
