About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is excited to partner with a pioneering nature-led design studio that integrates landscape architecture, civil engineering, and ecology to deliver transformative, sustainable projects across the UK. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, creative team dedicated to enhancing biodiversity, climate resilience, and community connection through exceptional design.

Why this studio?

  • Nature-first approach: Projects are rooted in holistic, nature-based principles—from sustainable drainage to placemaking.

  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary culture: Landscape architects, engineers, and ecologists work closely to co-create meaningful solutions.

  • Creative, supportive environment: The studio values creativity, wellbeing, open debate, and continuous learning through CPD.

  • Impactful, high-profile projects: Expect work with the National Trust, private estates, developers, and eco-driven regeneration schemes.

Role Overview

Reporting within a studio led by respected design directors, this role offers hands-on leadership in delivering technically robust, creative solutions from conception to construction. You’ll elevate the studio’s technical standards while mentoring junior talent and driving innovation.

Studio & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in weekly resourcing meetings.

  • Provide updates on project progress, resourcing, and delivery timelines.

  • Feed into planning and staffing decisions.

  • Contribute content for the studio’s marketing and social outreach.

  • Support bid processes with technical insight.

  • Champion all disciplines internally and externally.

  • Drive technical growth and efficiency across the team.

  • Lead CPD and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

  • Uphold studio values, quality systems, and financial standards.

Project Delivery

  • Produce clear, creative, and accurate design information aligned with studio specifications.

  • Regularly use Causeway Flow or Microdrainage for drainage design.

  • Create technical drawings using AutoCAD.

  • Independently lead, coordinate, and deliver multiple projects on time and budget.

  • Mentor junior engineers and facilitate design review sessions.

  • Engage in project financial and quality performance monitoring.

  • Conduct QMS procedures as needed.

What You Bring

  • Chartered Engineer or actively working toward chartership (e.g., ICE).

  • 3–5 years of drainage design experience, including foul and surface water systems.

  • Broader civil engineering knowledge—roads, levels, and pavement design.

  • Strong problem-solving, multitasking, and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to drive software and technical efficiencies.

  • Experience or willingness to use quality and financial management systems.

  • A passion for nature-led, sustainable design.

What’s In It For You

  • Salary up to £45,000, commensurate with experience.

  • Join a forward-thinking studio where your ideas shape the built and natural environment.

  • Work on high-impact, environmentally conscious projects across sectors and locations.

  • Collaborate with a team committed to learning, creativity, and wellbeing.

  • Support toward achieving professional chartership and personal career growth.
