About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is proud to partner with one of Ireland’s leading indigenous consultancies in the fields of Sustainable Infrastructure, Environment, Energy and the Circular Economy. We are seeking an Associate Director – Civil and Environmental Engineering to join our client’s growing environmental and circular economy team.

This is a standout opportunity for an experienced professional (15+ years) to play a key leadership role in high-impact environmental infrastructure projects and to influence the future of sustainability and circular development in Ireland.


The Role

This leadership role will see you managing multidisciplinary project teams and taking responsibility for delivering complex environmental infrastructure projects. You’ll work across initiatives such as:

  • Biological treatment plants (aerobic and anaerobic)

  • Waste transfer and recycling facilities

  • Energy-from-waste systems

  • Landfill design, remediation, capping, and aftercare

  • Public realm and urban enhancement projects

A strong progression path toward Director-level is offered to the successful candidate.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental and civil engineering teams through design and project execution phases.

  • Develop and nurture client relationships and identify new business opportunities.

  • Provide mentorship to engineers and technical staff.

  • Produce high-quality technical documentation and detailed tender submissions.

  • Coordinate workflows and timelines with internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, health & safety legislation, and regulatory requirements.

  • Represent the organisation in high-stakes client interactions and planning discussions.


Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Level 8 or 9 qualification in Civil or Environmental Engineering or similar.

  • Chartered Engineer status.

  • 15+ years of experience in civil/environmental design and project leadership.

  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage complex projects.

  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and business development.

  • Strong commercial acumen and experience with project financial management.

  • Confident communicator with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness to attend site visits and client meetings as required.

  • Full, clean driving licence.

  • (Desirable) Experience presenting at Oral Hearings.
