Role Overview

As Senior Ecologist, you'll join a passionate team at the forefront of enhancing biodiversity—supporting both local and national projects that shape landscapes meaningfully. Your work will help safeguard wildlife, champion habitat health, and ensure robust environmental outcomes across the UK.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct a wide range of ecological surveys and assessments, including:

    • Protected species surveys (e.g., bats)

    • Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys)

    • Habitat mapping and classification

    • Biodiversity Net Gain assessments

    • Arboricultural surveys

  • Collaborate with clients, surveyors, and arb associates to bolster planning applications and drive ecological excellence.

  • Manage your own schedule effectively, ensuring timely delivery of surveys and reports while adhering to stringent quality and environmental standards.

What You Bring

  • Degree in Ecology or a related field.

  • Solid experience with ecological and protected-species surveys, particularly bats and biodiversity net gain.

  • A Class 2 Bat Licence is essential; additional licences (e.g., Great Crested Newt, EPS) are a strong asset.

  • Willingness to travel regularly across the UK (driving licence preferred).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.

  • Naturally organised, with strong communication skills and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines.

Why This Role Is Worth It

  • Join a respected consultancy with decades of experience and a reputation for quality and integrity.

  • Be at the forefront of environmental compliance, with practical tools like the Biodiversity Checklist to guide impactful work.

  • Play a direct role in shaping healthier, more biodiverse landscapes—your efforts have both immediate and lasting environmental benefits.

  • Benefit from transparent, value-driven working practices that deliver the best outcomes for both clients and ecology professionals.

If you're a motivated and seasoned ecologist ready to elevate landscapes and biodiversity—this is your chance to make a real difference within a committed, experienced team.
