Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with a valued client to appoint an experienced Geo-Environmental professional to lead and expand their Geosciences Team based in Manchester. This pivotal leadership role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to step up in their career, taking on a blend of team development, technical oversight, and strategic project delivery within the land development and site investigation sectors.

Role Overview:

This position is ideal for candidates with a strong background in geo-environmental consultancy who are driven to take a leadership role in a growing business. You’ll be expected to manage team operations, mentor junior professionals, and oversee technical output while supporting business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow a Manchester-based geosciences team

  • Mentor and support the development of junior staff

  • Oversee project delivery, including planning, site investigations, and report quality

  • Maintain strong communication with clients and contractors

  • Manage budgets, schedules, and project performance metrics

Qualifications:

  • BSc, BEng, or MSc/MEng in Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Earth Sciences, Soil Science, or a related field

  • Chartered status (Scientist, Geologist, Environmentalist) or working toward it

Experience & Skills:

  • Solid UK-based consultancy experience in the geo-environmental sector

  • Proven leadership and project management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing

  • Ability to deliver practical, innovative engineering solutions

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Willingness to collaborate with UK-wide teams and report to the Geosciences Manager

  • Capable of prioritising workload effectively while mentoring junior colleagues

  • Commitment to personal and professional development, and helping others grow

Additional Information:

  • Travel will be required, including access to a pool car; a valid UK driving licence is essential

  • Occasional air travel may be necessary, requiring a valid passport and photo ID
