About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with the winner of the CIEEM Small Consultancy of the Year award to recruit an experienced Senior Project Manager specialising in habitat creation, restoration and ecological land management.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established environmental consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering large-scale habitat restoration, biodiversity enhancement and natural capital projects.

Our client works across a diverse range of public and private sector projects, including some of the UK's largest Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).

With a strong focus on nature recovery and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), the consultancy combines the collaborative culture of a specialist environmental business with the resources and stability of a wider environmental group.

The Role

As Senior Project Manager, you'll take responsibility for delivering habitat creation, restoration and landscape management contracts across the Midlands.

You'll oversee the operational and commercial performance of projects, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity suited to someone with experience in ecological contracting, conservation, forestry, arboriculture, landscaping or practical land management.

You'll work closely with clients, subcontractors and operational teams, managing existing contracts whilst contributing to the continued growth of the habitats division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of large-scale habitat creation, restoration and landscape management contracts.

  • Manage project programmes, budgets, resources and commercial performance.

  • Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, plant and equipment to ensure efficient project delivery.

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and project stakeholders.

  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and implement practical solutions.

  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and ensure works meet environmental and contractual standards.

  • Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).

  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and procedures.

  • Support quotations, tenders and new business opportunities.

  • Mentor and develop junior colleagues, contributing to the growth of the wider team.

About You

We're interested in speaking with experienced Project Managers who have a strong background in practical environmental project delivery and enjoy balancing operational leadership with commercial responsibility.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Experience in ecological contracting, habitat creation and restoration, conservation, forestry, arboriculture or landscape management.

  • A proven track record of managing site-based projects, operational teams and subcontractors.

  • Strong commercial awareness, including budgeting, cost control and profitable project delivery.

  • Experience managing plant, equipment, labour and site resources.

  • Excellent client relationship management and communication skills.

  • Experience preparing quotations, tenders and project documentation.

  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements, including site-specific RAMS.

  • Strong organisational skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach.

  • Experience mentoring or managing junior colleagues.

  • A full, clean UK driving licence.

SSSTS, SMSTS, CSCS or equivalent industry qualifications would be advantageous, although not essential. Towing experience would also be beneficial.

Location & Working Arrangements

This position offers the flexibility to initially work from home whilst managing and supporting projects across the Midlands.

Ideally, you'll be based within commuting distance of Birmingham, Coventry or Tamworth, with existing project commitments extending from Southam to Lichfield.

A company vehicle suitable for active construction sites will be provided.

You'll also receive support from an established head office team in Gloucestershire, with regular visits and collaboration expected during the initial months.

Salary & Benefits

Our client offers a competitive package designed to support professional development and work-life balance, including:

  • Salary of £50,000+ depending on experience.

  • Company vehicle.

  • Flexible working arrangements.

  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.

  • Enhanced company pension.

  • Life assurance.

  • Employee Assistance Programme.

  • Company laptop and mobile phone.

  • Team social events and volunteering days.

  • Supportive and collaborative working environment.

  • Opportunities to contribute to the growth of an established environmental business.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful environmental projects, helping to deliver practical habitat restoration and biodiversity improvements at scale.

You'll join an award-winning consultancy that values technical expertise, collaboration and long-term environmental outcomes.

For an experienced Project Manager looking to combine commercial responsibility, operational leadership and a genuine interest in nature recovery, this role offers an excellent next step.
