About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with a well-established and highly regarded environmental consultancy that is looking to expand its ecology team with the appointment of a Senior or Principal Bat Ecologist. You'll be joining a supportive multidisciplinary team, working on projects across sectors including infrastructure, residential, commercial, renewable energy and conservation. The Role
As a Senior or Principal Bat Ecologist, you will play a leading role in the delivery of ecological projects, with a particular focus on bat survey, mitigation and licensing work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading ecological projects from initial scoping through to completion.
- Planning and overseeing bat surveys, impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Producing and reviewing high-quality technical reports and licence applications.
- Providing expert advice on bat ecology and protected species legislation.
- Supporting and mentoring junior ecologists within the team.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across a range of environmental disciplines.
About You
We would love to hear from ecologists who have a strong background in bat ecology and are looking to take the next step in their career.
You are likely to have:
- Proven experience delivering UK bat surveys, mitigation design and implementation.
- A bat survey and/or mitigation licence, with several years' experience working under licence.
- Experience with EPS licensing and a sound understanding of wildlife legislation.
- Recent Named Ecologist experience, or Accredited Agent experience with the ability to achieve Named Ecologist status.
- Excellent technical report writing and review skills.
- Experience managing projects and ideally supporting or mentoring colleagues.
- A degree in Ecology or a related environmental discipline.
- A proactive and organised approach, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
