About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is supporting a leading independent environmental consultancy in the search for a Senior or Principal Air Quality Consultant. This is a strong opportunity to step into a technically influential role within a well-established team delivering work that directly supports sustainable development and infrastructure across the UK.


The role

You will play a central role in delivering and managing air quality projects across sectors such as transport, energy, aviation, industry and government. The position offers a balance of technical depth and client engagement, with responsibility for leading project teams, shaping delivery, and contributing to new business opportunities.

The work includes stand-alone air quality assessments, input into Environmental Statements, and involvement in nationally significant infrastructure projects, alongside research-led assignments.


Key responsibilities

  • Lead complex air quality assessments from scoping through to delivery
  • Manage project teams, timelines and client relationships
  • Oversee atmospheric dispersion modelling, particularly for transport and industrial sources
  • Prepare and review technical reports, including Environmental Statement chapters
  • Contribute to bids and tenders for new and repeat work
  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance
  • Mentor junior team members and support their professional development
  • Engage with multidisciplinary teams on integrated environmental projects

What you will bring

You will be an experienced air quality professional with a consultancy background and a strong technical foundation.

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience managing large and complex air quality assessments
  • Advanced capability in atmospheric dispersion modelling
  • Strong understanding of ambient air quality monitoring methods
  • Working knowledge of GIS
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex environmental data
  • Clear, confident communication skills
  • Client-focused approach with a track record of delivery
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Odour monitoring or modelling experience
  • Knowledge of greenhouse gas inventories and climate impacts
  • Experience with environmental permitting and regulator liaison
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary work, including noise or biodiversity
  • Experience with programming, machine learning or advanced statistics

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Professional membership such as IAQM is beneficial
