About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role in complex, multidisciplinary Environmental Impact Assessments across major infrastructure, renewable energy, transport and property projects.

The position is available at Principal EIA Consultant level in Leeds or Bristol, with the opportunity to appoint at Associate Director level in Leeds for a suitably experienced candidate.

The Role

You will lead and coordinate environmental inputs across major EIA projects, working closely with technical specialists, designers, clients and external consultants.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading complex, multidisciplinary EIAs from early strategy and feasibility through to detailed design and consenting
  • Managing screening, scoping, consultation and Environmental Statement documentation
  • Coordinating specialist environmental and design teams
  • Working across consenting regimes including Development Consent Orders and Town and Country Planning
  • Managing client and stakeholder relationships
  • Preparing and reviewing high-quality environmental reports
  • Managing project programmes, budgets and deliverables
  • Supporting fee proposals, bids and wider business development
  • Providing guidance and oversight to junior members of the team

About You

You will be an experienced EIA professional with a strong understanding of UK environmental assessment and consenting.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • A relevant environmental degree or equivalent qualification
  • Strong knowledge of EIA processes and relevant UK legislation
  • Significant experience leading complex, multidisciplinary EIAs
  • Experience producing and managing screening, scoping and Environmental Statement documentation
  • A broad understanding of environmental disciplines and development projects
  • Excellent report writing and technical review skills
  • Strong project and financial management capability
  • Confidence working directly with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience supporting or managing junior colleagues
  • Some involvement in bid preparation and business development

The consultancy is particularly interested in people who see environmental assessment as more than a consenting exercise and who want to help embed environmental considerations into project design from an early stage.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

You will be joining an established and respected environmental consultancy with a strong technical reputation and a collaborative approach to project delivery.

The role offers exposure to high-profile projects, the opportunity to work alongside experienced environmental specialists and genuine scope to develop your career at Principal or Associate Director level.

Alongside a competitive salary, the wider package includes hybrid and flexible working, enhanced pension, bonus scheme, medical cover, life assurance and wellbeing support.
