About the Role

At Ocean to Earth Recruitment, we are proud to be partnering with one of Ireland’s largest Irish-owned multidisciplinary consultancies. Our client is renowned for their work in sustainable infrastructure, circular economy, environment, energy, and planning, and they play a pivotal role in delivering complex projects across the renewable energy, civil infrastructure, and waste management sectors.

As part of their continued growth, they are currently seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join their expanding team in Cork, Dublin, or Carlow.


The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and experienced ecologist to take a lead role in the delivery of high-profile environmental and infrastructure projects. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the Senior Ecologist will be responsible for:

  • Managing ecological aspects of individual contracts and delivering high-quality consultancy services

  • Providing expert ecological input into the planning and design phases of diverse projects

  • Planning, conducting, and overseeing ecological field surveys and site assessments

  • Preparing and implementing Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs)

  • Leading and supporting the preparation of Appropriate Assessments (AAs), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), and Biodiversity Chapters for EIARs

  • Producing clear, detailed, and accurate technical reports

  • Supporting quality management processes and upholding project standards

  • Acting as expert witness at oral hearings when required

  • Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams


What You’ll Bring

  • A degree in ecology or a related discipline

  • A minimum of 7 years’ post-graduate experience in environmental consultancy

  • Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. CIEEM, CIWEM, or equivalent)

  • Strong understanding of Irish wildlife and conservation legislation

  • Experience preparing and implementing CEMPs and conducting impact assessments

  • Proven ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams

  • Skilled in project management, client communication, and technical reporting

  • Experience with the oral hearing process and the role of expert witness

  • A full, clean driving licence
