About the Role

Are you an experienced ecologist seeking the next step in your career? Do you want to contribute to impactful environmental projects while working with a dynamic and growing team? Our client’s Ecology team plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with ecological regulations while championing sustainable development. From Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) consultancy to protected species surveys and ecological licensing, their work directly supports the conservation of natural habitats and species.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Lead and manage a variety of ecological surveys and mitigation strategies for environmental projects.

  • Conduct and oversee Phase 1/UK Habs habitat surveys and protected species assessments.

  • Deliver expert ecological reporting, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA) and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA).

  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering their professional growth.

  • Provide expert ecological advice to clients, contractors, and stakeholders.

  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships, ensuring high-quality ecological consultancy.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.

  • Minimum of four years’ professional experience in ecological consultancy.

  • Strong expertise in protected species and habitat surveys with excellent field skills.

  • In-depth understanding of UK ecological legislation and planning policy.

  • Exceptional technical report writing skills, following CIEEM guidelines.

  • Commercial awareness and ability to manage client relationships effectively.

  • Desirable: Bat and/or GCN Natural England licences (Level 1 or above preferred).

  • Full, clean UK driving licence.

  • Membership of CIEEM (or working towards it).
