Senior Ecologist
Meet Our Recruiter
About the Role
The Impact You’ll Make
In this role, your work will directly shape how development and environmental stewardship coexist. You won’t simply be delivering surveys or reports—you’ll be influencing decisions that protect habitats, guide sustainable development, and leave a measurable ecological legacy.
Your expertise will help ensure that projects move forward responsibly, balancing commercial objectives with biodiversity and environmental integrity. Whether advising on complex sites, designing mitigation strategies, or supporting Biodiversity Net Gain outcomes, your voice will carry real weight.
Within a multidisciplinary consultancy, your input will inform wider project strategies—meaning your ecological insight will be embedded at the heart of decision-making, not added as an afterthought.
Your Role in the Team
You’ll be part of a collaborative ecology team of over 30 specialists, where knowledge-sharing and support are part of the culture. Your experience will not only strengthen project delivery but also contribute to mentoring others and elevating team standards.
You’ll work closely with Project Managers and colleagues across disciplines, helping to solve challenges creatively and pragmatically. This is a role where your ability to think critically and act decisively will be genuinely valued.
Where You’ll Grow
This is an environment that invests in its people. Through structured training, exposure to multidisciplinary projects, and ongoing professional development, you’ll continue to deepen your expertise and broaden your influence.
Whether you’re looking to refine technical specialisms—such as protected species work, mitigation design, or Biodiversity Net Gain—or to step further into project leadership, you’ll be supported in shaping your career.
What You Bring
You bring more than technical knowledge—you bring judgment, curiosity, and a proactive mindset.
You will likely have:
-
A strong background in ecological consultancy
-
Excellent communication skills and confidence in client-facing work
-
A relevant degree and membership of (or eligibility for) Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management
-
Solid understanding of ecological legislation and survey methodologies
Experience in bat licensing, mitigation, tree climbing, Biodiversity Net Gain, or additional protected species licences will allow you to make an even greater impact from day one.
What Supports You
Alongside a competitive salary (based on experience), you’ll be supported by a comprehensive benefits package, including:
-
5% employer pension contribution
-
Private healthcare and life assurance
-
30 days annual leave + bank holidays + birthday leave
-
