About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established and growing ecological consultancy to recruit a Project Coordinator. This is a newly created role offering the chance to play a pivotal part in project delivery while supporting and mentoring junior ecologists as they develop their consultancy skills.

The organisation is known for its high technical standards, pragmatic approach, and strong client relationships. Continued growth has created the need for a dedicated Project Coordinator to oversee projects, manage client communication, and support the ecological team.

The Role

The Project Coordinator will act as the key link between clients and the ecology team, taking responsibility for project management and coordination. Junior ecologists will typically operate as Assistant Project Managers, carrying out surveys and feeding findings back to the Project Coordinator. Recommendations will be developed collaboratively, with the Project Coordinator leading on client liaison and ensuring junior staff are supported and included in communications and meetings.

This is a 9–5, desk-based role with no fieldwork requirement, based in the office with flexibility for home working. As this is a newly introduced position, there is real scope for the successful candidate to help shape the role as the business evolves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing ecological projects from quotation through to delivery

  • Coordinating survey schedules with internal resource teams

  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients

  • Supporting and mentoring Assistant Project Managers

  • Producing and reviewing project quotes

  • Reviewing reports (subject to professional membership status)

About You

This role is ideal for an experienced ecologist, potentially at Senior Ecologist level, who is looking to step away from regular fieldwork and move into a project coordination and management-focused role.

  • Strong enthusiasm for ecology and the natural environment

  • Experience with habitat surveys (UKHab / NVC) and protected species surveys

  • Excellent understanding of survey design, best practice, and mitigation

  • Confident communicator with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Comfortable designing surveys and preparing quotes

Desirable

  • Full membership of CIEEM (or eligibility)

  • Strong report-writing skills

  • Degree (or equivalent) in an ecology-related discipline

  • Experience mentoring or managing junior staff

  • Interest in networking and supporting new business generation

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary from £32,000

  • Company laptop and mobile phone

  • Professional memberships paid

  • Unlimited in-house training and external training budget

  • Generous pension scheme

  • Colleague-nominated bonus scheme

  • Unlimited annual leave and flexible working culture

  • Regularly updated benefits as part of a progressive, people-focused business
