Graduate Structural Engineer

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with a growing multidisciplinary environmental and engineering consultancy seeking a Graduate Structural Engineer to join its team in Central Scotland.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent or upcoming Structural or Civil Engineering graduate looking to build strong technical experience across a varied portfolio of projects, with support from experienced engineers as you work towards professional qualification.

The Role

Working alongside senior engineers, you will gain practical experience across structural and civil engineering projects, including buildings, bridges, foundations and temporary works.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the design of structural and civil engineering structures

• Assisting with structural calculations, technical reports and design documentation

• Producing drawings and sketches for practical, buildable engineering solutions

• Applying relevant British Standards and Eurocodes

• Supporting foundation and structural design

• Attending site visits, asset inspections and construction sites

• Developing your understanding of construction methods and sequencing

• Preparing technical deliverables for clients and contractors

• Working collaboratively with engineers, clients and contractors

• Developing knowledge of quality assurance, health and safety and commercial project delivery

About You

You will ideally have:

• A degree, or expected degree, in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline, at Bachelor's or Master's level

• A good understanding of core engineering principles

• A genuine interest in developing a career in structural engineering

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• A willingness to learn from experienced engineers and take on increasing responsibility

• A full UK driving licence and flexibility to attend client sites

• The legal right to live and work in the UK

You should also be interested in working towards professional qualification with the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Career Development

This role would suit someone at the beginning of their engineering career who wants exposure to real projects rather than being limited to one narrow area of structural design.

You will work within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, gaining experience across design, technical delivery, site work and client projects while developing towards professional accreditation.

The position may involve travel across the UK, with occasional overnight stays depending on project requirements.
