The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Hydraulic Engineer to play a hands-on role in shaping Ireland’s environmental future. One day you may be assisting with groundwater monitoring well installations; the next, interpreting data and developing conceptual site models.
You will join a large and highly regarded Water and Geoenvironmental team working on a diverse range of projects across Ireland. The role will involve both desk-based and field-based work and will focus on:

Fish passage improvement

River restoration
-
Flood management
-
Drainage design
-
Hydraulic and hydrological modelling
The position involves travel within Ireland and occasional overnight stays. It is a permanent role within a supportive and collaborative environment, offering excellent opportunities for career progression.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver hydraulic and hydrological projects

Analyse hydraulic scenarios relating to flooding, drainage, and fish passage

Prepare technical specifications and bills of quantities for site investigations

Interpret field data and develop hydraulic models

Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure efficient project delivery

Support multidisciplinary colleagues, including geologists and environmental scientists

Contribute to project proposals and business development activities

Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations
What We’re Looking For
-
Degree (preferably MSc) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
-
Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience in hydraulic engineering or related projects
-
Proven design experience on hydraulic engineering projects
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
-
Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
-
Excellent written and spoken English with strong interpersonal skills

Full, clean driving licence
Desirable Experience
-
Proficiency in MS Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experience using AutoCAD and GIS software
-
Hydraulic and/or hydrological modelling experience (e.g. HEC-RAS)

Knowledge of fish passage improvement design and implementation
-
Experience across different stages of project delivery
