About the Role

Geoscience Lead (England)

The Opportunity

If you're an experienced contaminated land or geoscience professional, you may already be leading projects and developing client relationships. Perhaps you're now looking for the opportunity to shape something bigger.

This is a chance to take the lead of a growing geoscience service across England, with the freedom to influence its direction, build a team around you and play a key role in the future of a well-established multidisciplinary environmental consultancy.

You'll have the backing of experienced colleagues across planning, water, environmental and infrastructure disciplines, while enjoying the autonomy to develop new opportunities, strengthen client relationships and help grow a respected technical offering.

The Company

Our client is an established multidisciplinary consultancy working across the built and natural environment. Known for delivering practical, high-quality advice, they bring together specialists from a range of environmental and engineering disciplines to solve complex challenges for clients throughout the UK.

People are genuinely valued here. Collaboration, technical excellence and professional development sit at the heart of the business, creating an environment where experienced professionals are trusted to lead, innovate and make a lasting impact.

What You'll Be Doing

As Geoscience Lead, you'll combine technical expertise with strategic leadership to develop and grow the geoscience service across England. You'll:

  • Lead the continued growth of the contaminated land and geoscience offering.

  • Develop strong client relationships and identify new business opportunities.

  • Provide technical leadership across land use planning, permitting and environmental projects.

  • Mentor and support a growing team, helping others develop their careers.

  • Work closely with colleagues across planning, water, infrastructure and environmental disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Maintain high technical standards, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.

  • Help shape business strategy and strengthen the consultancy's position within the market.

About You

You'll be an experienced geoscience or contaminated land consultant who enjoys combining technical excellence with leadership and business development.

You'll probably have extensive consultancy experience within the UK, a strong understanding of contaminated land assessment and remediation, and a proven ability to win work and build lasting client relationships. You'll be confident leading projects, supporting colleagues and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

Chartered status (such as CGeol or CEnv), or a clear pathway towards chartership, would be advantageous, as would experience working within a multidisciplinary consultancy and a good understanding of UK planning and environmental regulation.

What's on Offer

This is an opportunity to build something, not simply manage what's already there.

In return, you'll benefit from:

  • A genuine leadership role with the opportunity to shape and grow a key service area.

  • A varied portfolio of technically interesting projects across multiple sectors.

  • Flexible and hybrid working that supports a healthy work-life balance.

  • A collaborative culture where knowledge sharing and professional development are encouraged.

  • Clear opportunities for career progression and continued technical development.

  • Professional memberships, training and ongoing support.

  • A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

Location & Flexibility

This is a hybrid role based in England, with flexibility around where you work alongside travel to meet clients, colleagues and project requirements when needed.
