About the Role
Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with an established environmental consultancy seeking an Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) to support a varied portfolio of projects across Scotland.
This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional who enjoys combining site-based work with technical reporting, environmental compliance and practical problem-solving.
You'll work across renewable energy, infrastructure and residential development projects, helping clients and contractors meet their environmental obligations while supporting responsible development.
We welcome applications from experienced Environmental Clerks of Works, as well as environmental professionals with relevant transferable skills who are keen to develop their careers in this specialism.
The Role
Working alongside environmental specialists, project managers and construction teams, you'll provide environmental compliance monitoring and practical advice throughout project delivery.
Key responsibilities include:

Undertaking environmental inspections, compliance monitoring and audits on construction sites.

Monitoring adherence to planning conditions, environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.

Preparing environmental compliance reports, Surface Water Management Plans (SWMPs) and Pollution Prevention Plans (PPPs).

Identifying environmental risks and recommending appropriate mitigation measures.

Advising contractors and project teams on environmental best practice.

Supporting the delivery of projects within agreed budgets and timescales.

Liaising with clients, contractors, regulators and other environmental professionals.

Maintaining accurate site records and preparing technical documentation.
About You
You'll be organised, confident communicating with different stakeholders and comfortable balancing practical site responsibilities with technical reporting.
Essential requirements:

Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Ecology or a related discipline.

Full UK driving licence.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

A practical, proactive approach to identifying and resolving environmental issues.
Desirable experience:
-
Environmental Clerk of Works or construction environmental compliance experience.
-
Site inspections, environmental monitoring or environmental auditing.
-
Knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.

Understanding of CAR, SuDS, EIA, flood risk and pollution prevention.

Experience preparing environmental management plans or technical reports.
-
Working with contractors on construction or infrastructure projects.
-
CSCS card or AECoW membership.
-
Relevant postgraduate qualification.
Don't have direct EnvCoW experience?
