About the Client
Our client, a consultancy based in Telford, Shropshire, offers a wide range of services in landscape architecture, ecology, and arboriculture across the UK. Due to continuous business growth, they are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to join their friendly and professional team.

Role Overview
The client is looking for an experienced Ecologist or Senior Ecologist with a background in ecological consultancy, biodiversity assessments, and protected species surveys. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of relevant experience and strong knowledge of wildlife legislation, planning policy, ecological report writing, and survey methodologies. In this role, you will work as part of a team on various ecological assessments, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Preliminary Roost Assessments. There are also opportunities for career development, and the position could be considered on a part-time basis for the right individual.

Desired Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate should have:

  • A degree or higher qualification in ecology or a related field.
  • At least three years' consultancy experience.
  • Associate or Full Membership (or working towards) with CIEEM.
  • Experience with protected species licenses and/or FISC.
  • Familiarity with Biodiversity Net Gain and associated metrics.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including QGIS.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle with business insurance (if required).
