About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is pleased to be working with a highly regarded independent expert planning consultancy to recruit an Associate Planner for their established Devon office near Exeter.

Based in Exeter since 2007, the practice is deeply embedded in the South West and well acquainted with the complex planning challenges facing the region. The team has extensive experience working on sites that are environmentally sensitive and subject to significant development pressures, providing trusted, pragmatic advice in demanding contexts.

The consultancy acts on behalf of a wide range of clients across residential, commercial, leisure, energy and heritage sectors. Each project is approached on a case-by-case basis, with solutions tailored around client needs and underpinned by strong strategic planning expertise. This approach has earned the practice a respected reputation with local authorities and industry professionals across the region.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and commercially aware planner to step into an Associate-level position, taking responsibility for a diverse portfolio of work while playing a key role in business development and team leadership.

You will be managing projects from inception through to determination, representing clients at senior level, and supporting the continued growth of the Devon office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing planning projects from start to finish

  • Preparing planning appraisals, applications and appeals

  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Representing clients at committee meetings and appeals

  • Mentoring junior team members and contributing to business growth

About You

  • Chartered Planner / RTPI Member

  • Strong, broad-based planning consultancy experience

  • Commercially minded with a client-focused approach

  • Full UK driving licence (some flexibility may be considered)
