The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Associate / Arboriculture Team Manager to lead and develop an arboriculture team based in Manchester. This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who can balance technical excellence with leadership and commercial awareness.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality consultancy services while supporting the continued growth of the team and wider business.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the delivery of arboricultural consultancy projects across a range of sectors

  • Managing and developing a team of Arboricultural Consultants and Surveyors

  • Delivering surveys, risk assessments, tree management plans and technical reports

  • Working closely with planning authorities, architects and multidisciplinary teams

  • Advising on Tree Preservation Orders, felling licences and planning constraints

  • Overseeing team resourcing, financial performance and project delivery

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Supporting business development and contributing to company growth

  • Mentoring team members and maintaining high technical standards


What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Arboriculture (or a related discipline)

  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. Arboricultural Association)

  • 5+ years’ experience in arboricultural consultancy

  • Strong BS5837 experience (AIA, AMS, reporting, VTA inspections)

  • Demonstrable experience managing teams and projects

  • Experience with fee proposals, tenders and client engagement

  • Proven ability to manage large-scale survey contracts

  • Strong knowledge of planning and environmental legislation

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • A proactive, adaptable approach with strong organisational ability

  • Full UK driving licence
