About the Role

Key Purpose of Job:

Our client is a multi-disciplinary, planning-led consultancy with a strong track record of delivering successful planning applications. Their projects range from individual dwellings to large, multi-functional schemes, covering sectors such as renewable energy, mineral extraction/restoration, leisure, residential, and rural-based developments.

In this role, you will work as part of the planning team and alongside other internal disciplines, gaining valuable experience in a supportive environment. You will be involved in all aspects of the planning process, from initial site appraisals to preparing and submitting planning applications, managing condition compliance, and handling appeal work. You will manage your own projects and assist with larger-scale developments.

This is an ideal opportunity for a planner looking to take the next step in their career.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assessing site potential for various developments, identifying opportunities and constraints, and advising clients accordingly.

  • Promoting sites for residential and commercial development through the Local Plan process.

  • Preparing and coordinating planning (and associated) applications, including drafting supporting statements.

  • Liaising with internal and external technical specialists, clients, and Local Planning Authorities.

  • Preparing fee proposals and managing project budgets.

  • Conducting planning research as required.

  • Maintaining a programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

  • Undertaking general office administrative duties and office housekeeping as directed.

  • Performing any other duties as reasonably requested.

Candidate Specification:

  • Degree and/or Master's in Town or Spatial Planning.

  • Chartered Member of the RTPI or working towards Chartership.

  • Minimum of 2 years' planning experience in the public or private sector.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Self-motivated with a proactive attitude.

  • Strong team player.

  • Full driving licence and access to own vehicle.
