The Opportunity
You will take a lead role in delivering and overseeing environmental water and peat management assessments for nationally significant renewable energy and infrastructure projects, including onshore wind, solar and transport schemes.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will help grow a specialist consultancy team while remaining technically involved in complex and meaningful environmental projects. The role combines technical leadership, project oversight, mentoring and business development.
This position would suit someone who enjoys building trusted client relationships, guiding multidisciplinary teams and influencing how environmental considerations shape major developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee environmental assessments for major infrastructure and renewable energy projects
- Provide technical direction across hydrology, hydrogeology, peat and water environment assessments
- Support and mentor junior consultants towards professional development and chartership
- Manage project delivery, quality, programme and commercial performance
- Lead bids and contribute to business growth strategy
- Build strong client relationships and represent the consultancy with technical credibility
- Help shape and grow a specialist environmental consultancy team
Projects may include:
- Hydrology and hydrogeology assessments
- Water Framework Directive assessments
- Peat management and peat landslide risk assessments
- Surface water management plans
- Water quality and geomorphology assessments
- Groundwater and private water supply risk assessments
- Carbon balance and environmental impact assessments

About You
You are likely to bring:
- Strong experience in environmental consultancy, water environment or EIA delivery
- Expertise in hydrology, hydrogeology, peatland assessment, geomorphology or related disciplines
- Experience leading projects and mentoring teams
- Commercial awareness and interest in business development
- Confidence engaging with clients, regulators and multidisciplinary teams
- Chartered status, or working towards chartership, with CIWEM, ICE, IEMA or similar
