Senior/Principal Geo-environmental Consultant

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with a growing environmental consultancy in Glasgow to appoint a Senior or Principal Geo-Environmental Engineer.

The opportunity

The position combines site investigation, contaminated land and geo-environmental assessment, technical reporting, project management and client work.

You will remain closely involved in technical delivery while gradually taking greater ownership of projects, clients and colleagues. At Principal level, you will take a leading role in technical quality and project delivery, while a Senior Engineer will have the opportunity to develop towards this level.

The Principal remit includes technical leadership across complex site investigations, management of project teams, mentoring junior colleagues and supporting the continued success of the Geo-Environmental Services team.

The role

Depending on your level, your responsibilities could include:

• Designing, coordinating and overseeing site investigations and environmental assessments
• Preparing and reviewing technical reports, risk assessments and remediation strategies
• Managing geo-environmental projects from initial scope through to completion
• Acting as technical lead on larger and more complex projects
• Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams
• Managing programmes, resources and budgets
• Working directly with clients and attending stakeholder meetings
• Supporting proposals, project scoping and fee estimates
• Reviewing risk assessments and method statements
• Mentoring and supporting Graduate and Project Engineers
• Sharing technical knowledge across the wider team

What we're looking for

You will have experience within geo-environmental consultancy, supported by a relevant degree in Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.

For the Principal appointment, the preference is for around six or more years' relevant consultancy experience. We would also welcome applications from experienced Senior Engineers who are ready to take on greater responsibility and would value a clear route towards Principal.

Chartered status, or progress towards Chartership, would be advantageous, and a driving licence is required.
