About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with an established environmental consultancy looking to appoint both a Senior and Principal Environmental Permitting Consultant.

These roles would suit experienced environmental professionals with a strong background in permitting who want to take responsibility for technically interesting projects while working alongside an experienced team.

The work is focused particularly on the waste management and industrial sectors, covering a range of waste treatment, recovery, landfill and hazardous waste activities.

The role

Depending on your level of experience, you will provide technical input and project leadership across a varied portfolio of Environmental Permitting projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing Environmental Permit applications
  • Producing environmental risk assessments, management plans and technical reports
  • Providing technical advice on environmental legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Reviewing and interpreting environmental monitoring data
  • Managing projects from initial client brief through to delivery
  • Liaising directly with clients, waste and minerals operators, the Environment Agency and local authorities
  • Supporting and guiding other members of the environmental permitting team
  • Keeping clients and colleagues informed of relevant regulatory developments

At Principal level, there will be greater emphasis on technical leadership, project oversight and supporting the development of colleagues within the team.

About you

You will already have professional experience within Environmental Permitting and a good working knowledge of the associated regulatory framework.

Ideally, your experience will include several of the following:

  • Waste treatment and recovery operations
  • Landfill
  • Hazardous waste management
  • Industrial activities
  • Environmental monitoring and data interpretation
  • Environmental risk assessments
  • Permit applications and variations
  • Pollution Prevention and Control
  • Waste Management Licensing
  • Liaison with the Environment Agency and local authorities
  • Project management and client liaison

You should be comfortable providing technical advice directly to clients and contributing practically to projects, rather than working solely in a management capacity.

Qualifications

You will have a relevant qualification within an environmental or related technical discipline.

Membership of CIWM would be advantageous, although it is not essential.

A full UK driving licence is required.

If you are an experienced Environmental Permitting Consultant looking for your next Senior or Principal opportunity, Ocean to Earth Recruitment would be pleased to speak with you confidentially about the role, the consultancy and whether it could be a good long-term fit.
