About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with a leading UK environmental consultancy seeking a Senior or Principal Ecological Consultant to join their team in Ipswich and take on a Team Lead role.

Our client supports organisations in delivering projects that allow nature and development to thrive together, providing services including terrestrial ecology, freshwater ecology, hydrology, arboriculture, GIS and environmental impact assessments.

This role combines technical ecology, project leadership and team management. You will lead complex ecological projects, manage and mentor a small team of consultants, and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to the continued growth of the ecology team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and mentoring a team of ecologists

  • Leading complex ecological projects from start to finish

  • Producing technical reports including EcIA chapters, EPSL applications and HRA work

  • Ensuring high-quality survey and reporting standards

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Supporting business development and tender preparation

Requirements

  • Degree in Ecology or a related discipline

  • Strong knowledge of ecological legislation, survey methods and reporting

  • Protected species licences or progress toward them

  • CIEEM membership

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car insured for business use

  • Right to work in the UK

Experience in ornithology, botany or bat mitigation licensing would be beneficial but is not essential.
