About the Opportunity

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is delighted to be supporting one of our valued clients in their search for a Senior Hydrogeologist to join their Contaminated Land & Hydrogeology team based in Shrewsbury.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated professional to become part of a small, innovative, and technically excellent consultancy delivering high-quality hydrogeological and contaminated land projects across the UK.

We’re looking for a proactive, confident, and ambitious individual with strong communication, report writing, and presentation skills, alongside proven experience in hydrogeology. You’ll be involved in a mix of office-based and field projects, taking ownership of technical, commercial, and project management responsibilities while contributing to strategic growth and business development within your specialism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct hydrogeological projects, ensuring quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction.

  • Lead and support the delivery of a wide range of environmental, water resources, and contaminated land projects.

  • Develop and interpret robust conceptual site models, large datasets, risk assessments, and numerical models.

  • Provide specialist input into technical reports and client communications.

  • Maintain awareness of emerging technical innovations, ensuring advice and deliverables align with best practice and current legislation.

  • Support business development activities, identifying opportunities and building client relationships.

  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering technical and professional development.


Skills and Experience

  • Strong background in hydrogeology with demonstrable technical expertise.

  • Experience in project management, risk assessment, and client liaison.

  • Proficiency with analytical and modelling tools such as RTM, CLEA, ConSim, and RAM; experience with numerical modelling software (e.g., MODFLOW or FEFLOW) is advantageous.

  • Hands-on field experience including drilling, sampling, and aquifer testing across various geological settings.

  • Chartered status with GeolSoc, IES, IEMA, CIWEM, or an equivalent professional body.

  • Relevant degree (BSc/BEng) in Earth or Environmental Sciences; MSc or postgraduate qualification preferred.

  • UK driving licence required.
