Ocean to Earth Recruitment is supporting a leading environmental consultancy in the search for a Senior Fisheries Consultant to join its growing Freshwater Fisheries team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fisheries professional to play a key role in delivering projects that protect and enhance freshwater environments whilst supporting sustainable development across the UK.
Working within a multidisciplinary team of fisheries scientists and aquatic ecologists, you'll contribute to a diverse range of projects including fisheries surveys, habitat assessments, fish passage investigations, impact assessments, mitigation design, and regulatory work such as EIA, HRA and WFD assessments.
The Role
As a Senior Fisheries Consultant, you'll combine technical expertise with project management and client-facing responsibilities. You'll lead fisheries surveys, manage projects from proposal through to delivery, mentor junior team members, and help develop strong client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:

Designing and delivering freshwater fisheries surveys

Leading fieldwork and providing technical guidance

Managing projects, budgets and programmes

Producing and reviewing technical reports
-
Supporting tender preparation and proposals
-
Building client relationships and identifying new opportunities

Mentoring and developing junior colleagues
-
Contributing to multidisciplinary environmental projects
About You
You'll ideally have:
-
3+ years' experience within fisheries consultancy or a related discipline

Strong experience delivering freshwater fisheries surveys
-
Excellent knowledge of fisheries science and aquatic ecology

Strong report writing and communication skills
-
Project management experience
-
A collaborative approach and passion for high-quality environmental outcomes
Desirable qualifications include electrofishing certification, working near water qualifications, protected species licences, and professional accreditation or progress towards chartership.
