About the Role

A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced ecology leader to support the growth of its northern team. This is a strategic hire, with flexibility around level, from Principal Consultant through to Technical or Regional Director, depending on experience.

The business delivers environment-led planning and design across sectors including renewable energy, infrastructure and major residential developments. With a strong UK presence and an expanding project pipeline, this role offers the opportunity to shape regional delivery and influence high-profile schemes.

The Role
You will lead and develop the northern ecology team, providing technical direction and supporting business growth. The role combines team leadership, project oversight and client engagement across complex, multidisciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, grow and mentor a regional ecology team. 
  • Provide technical expertise across EcIA, HRA and Biodiversity Net Gain
  • Oversee delivery of large-scale projects
  • Manage client relationships and support business development
  • Contribute to bids, tenders and strategic growth

About You

  • Strong background in ecological consultancy, including leadership experience
  • Proven delivery of complex projects in sectors such as infrastructure or energy
  • Technical expertise in EcIA, HRA and BNG
  • Commercial awareness and client-facing experience
  • Member of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIEEM)

Location
York preferred, with flexibility across the North of England. Travel required.
