Their services span Biodiversity Net Gain consultancy, protected species surveys, ecological licensing, and habitat management, helping clients balance development needs with environmental conservation.

The Role

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Ecology Consultant to lead ecological projects, provide technical expertise, and mentor a growing team. You’ll play a key role in shaping practical, sustainable, and innovative ecological solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing ecological surveys and mitigation strategies.

  • Conducting Phase 1/UK Habitats habitat surveys and protected species assessments.

  • Delivering high-quality ecological reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA) and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA).

  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members to develop technical expertise.

  • Engaging with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, providing expert ecological advice.

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring consultancy standards are upheld.


About You

We’re seeking an ecologist with strong technical skills, commercial awareness, and a passion for sustainable development.

  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline.

  • Minimum of four years’ professional ecological consultancy experience.

  • Expertise in protected species and habitat surveys, with strong field skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of UK ecological legislation and planning policy.

  • Strong report writing skills aligned with CIEEM guidance.

  • Commercial awareness and client management experience.

  • Ideally hold Bat and/or GCN Natural England licences (Level 1 or above).

  • Full, clean UK driving licence.

  • CIEEM membership (or working toward it).
