About the Role

At Ocean to Earth Recruitment, we’re excited to be working with a forward-thinking ecological consultancy that’s redefining what sustainable development looks like — blending innovation, youthful energy, and ecological excellence to create places that are fit for the future.

This consultancy is driven by a clear mission: to create developments that meet today’s needs while paving the way for a greener, better tomorrow. If you’re a Senior Ecologist who wants their work to genuinely matter — environmentally, socially, and culturally — this could be your next move.

🌱 About the Opportunity

This is a chance to join a consultancy with a fresh, lively, and progressive ethos, where sustainability isn’t just a box-ticking exercise — it’s embedded into every project.

As Senior Ecologist, you’ll work on a diverse portfolio of projects across England, with a strong focus on the West Midlands, supporting clients through expert ecological advice and gold-standard environmental strategies.

🦋 The Role

You’ll take a lead role in delivering high-quality ecological consultancy services, including:

  • Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs)

  • Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA)

  • Protected species surveys and licence applications

  • Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments

  • Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA)

  • Ecological Management Plans (EMPs)

You’ll be trusted to manage projects, mentor others, and contribute ideas — in a consultancy that actively encourages innovation and fresh thinking.

🌿 Values at the Heart of the Business

This consultancy’s culture is built on being green, young, fresh, lively, and youthful, and they truly live it:

  • Sustainability: Guiding clients toward meaningful, long-term ecological outcomes using best-practice strategies

  • Innovation: Challenging the status quo and embracing new ideas in a fast-evolving environmental landscape

  • Energy: A passionate, enthusiastic team that brings creativity and momentum to every project

  • Vitality: A dynamic and engaging workplace where ideas are welcomed and collaboration thrives

  • Youthful Mindset: Open, adaptable, and always learning — regardless of age or seniority

🌍 What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to speak with ecologists who combine technical strength with enthusiasm and drive:

  • 3–5+ years’ experience in ecological consultancy

  • One or more areas of specialism, supported by excellent all-round field skills

  • Strong experience delivering BNG assessments, with confident botanical skills

  • Proven protected species experience, including EPS mitigation licences (bats, dormice and/or GCN)

  • Excellent understanding of wildlife legislation, planning policy, and Appropriate Assessment

  • Associate or Full CIEEM membership

💼 What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary dependent on experience

  • Flexible, hybrid working

  • A lively, supportive consultancy culture

  • The opportunity to shape sustainable, future-focused development

  • A role where your ideas, energy, and expertise are genuinely valued
