Senior Ecologist
Meet Our Recruiter
About the Role
Not Every Ecology Consultancy Is the Same. This One Is Doing Things Differently.
Are you an experienced Ecologist looking for something a little different?
Perhaps you're ready to join a consultancy where technology is embraced, ideas are encouraged, and the leadership genuinely invests in its people.
Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with an exciting, progressive environmental consultancy that is redefining how ecological, arboricultural and landscape services are delivered.
Led by an inspirational and ambitious leadership team, this is a business that combines ecological expertise with cutting-edge technology, innovative digital tools and a genuine commitment to professional development.
With its own technology platforms, a dedicated Learning Hub and an impressive portfolio of prestigious projects, this consultancy offers an environment where talented ecologists can thrive.
It's a growing, multidisciplinary business with the expertise to deliver complex projects, while maintaining the personal, collaborative culture of a smaller consultancy.
And importantly, it's somewhere your contribution will be recognised.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Ecologist who enjoys the technical side of consultancy but also wants to contribute ideas, develop others and help shape the future of the ecology team.
You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work alongside experienced environmental professionals and contribute to a diverse portfolio of developments across London and the surrounding counties.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Leading ecological surveys, habitat assessments and protected species work.
-
Preparing Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and mitigation strategies.
-
Providing ecological advice to developers, planning teams and other stakeholders.
-
Managing projects from initial assessment through to planning and delivery.
-
Working collaboratively with landscape architects, arboriculturists and other environmental specialists.
-
Supporting and mentoring junior ecologists.
-
Contributing ideas and expertise to a consultancy that actively encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
Who We're Looking For
You'll already have experience working at Senior Ecologist level, or be an experienced Ecologist ready to take that next step.
Ideally, you'll bring:
-
Strong UK ecological consultancy experience.
-
Experience delivering ecological surveys, assessments and technical reports independently.
-
Good knowledge of protected species, habitats and relevant environmental legislation.
-
Experience supporting planning applications and development projects.
-
Strong project management and client communication skills.
-
A relevant ecology or environmental qualification.
-
CIEEM membership, or progress towards professional membership.
-
A full UK driving licence.
Above all, we're looking for someone who is curious, collaborative and enthusiastic about delivering excellent ecological work.
What Makes This Opportunity Different?

Leadership That Invests in People
The leadership team has created a culture where professional development, knowledge sharing and new ideas are genuinely valued.
You'll have access to a dedicated Learning Hub, CPD funding, professional memberships and opportunities to attend industry conferences.
Whether your ambition is to become a technical specialist, develop your leadership skills or progress towards Principal level, you'll be supported in building a career that suits you.
An Impressive Benefits Package
The company has put considerable thought into creating a workplace where people feel valued, supported and rewarded.
