Our client is an independent environmental consultancy with a long-standing presence across the South East of England. Bringing together specialists from a range of environmental disciplines, the business works collaboratively to provide practical, evidence-led advice on a diverse portfolio of projects.
Their work spans residential, commercial, infrastructure and mixed-use developments, supporting clients from the earliest stages of project planning through to delivery. What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior or Principal Ecologist, you'll take a leading role in delivering ecological advice across a broad range of projects, including:

Leading ecological surveys, assessments and site-based investigations.

Producing high-quality ecological reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments and Biodiversity Net Gain documentation.

Advising clients and project teams on biodiversity, habitat management and environmental legislation.

Working closely with planners, landscape architects and other environmental specialists to deliver integrated solutions.

Building strong relationships with clients, local authorities and key stakeholders.

Supporting and mentoring junior members of the ecology team.

Contributing to project strategy, technical excellence and best practice across the business.
About You
You'll likely be working in ecological consultancy already and comfortable managing projects from survey through to reporting and client communication.
You may currently be operating at Senior level and looking for a clearer progression route, or already working as a Principal Ecologist seeking a role with greater flexibility, project variety or influence.
You'll bring:

Strong knowledge of UK habitats, protected species and relevant environmental legislation.

Experience producing ecological reports independently and to a high technical standard.

Confidence managing client relationships and project delivery.

A degree in Ecology or a related environmental discipline.

Membership of CIEEM or a commitment to professional development within the sector.

A collaborative approach and a willingness to support and develop others.

Location & Flexibility
This role is based in South East England, with projects throughout the region and London. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements are available, allowing a balance between office, site and home-based work.
