About the Role

At Ocean to Earth Recruitment, we’re proud to be partnering with an award-winning sustainability consultancy with expertise across the full spectrum of environmental and ecological services.

Sustainability matters more than ever — and our client is at the forefront, helping organisations transform and thrive while making a tangible difference to the planet. Together, they’re building a better world — and this is your opportunity to be part of it.

The Role

We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Consultant to join the Nature Team in Bristol.

We’re seeking a passionate individual who can deliver projects that achieve positive outcomes for biodiversity while supporting client needs.

As a Senior Consultant, you’ll lead and deliver high-impact ecology and biodiversity projects — managing simple to moderately complex projects from inception to completion, collaborating on large-scale multidisciplinary work, and ensuring the highest technical standards.

You’ll conduct a variety of ecological assessments including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) calculations, and BREEAM ecology reports using tools such as QGIS and biodiversity metrics to assess and map biodiversity outcomes.

You’ll also play a key role in mentoring and supporting junior team members, helping them develop their skills and confidence as part of a collaborative and passionate team.

 Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver high-quality ecological and biodiversity projects from start to finish.

  • Manage simple to moderately complex projects, acting as a key client contact.

  • Conduct ecological assessments including PEAs, BNG, and BREEAM reports.

  • Use QGIS and biodiversity metrics to assess, analyse, and map biodiversity net gain.

  • Support and collaborate with colleagues across multidisciplinary teams to deliver larger, complex projects.

  • Contribute to tenders, manage budgets, and build strong client relationships.

  • Prepare and review technical documentation such as protected species reports, mitigation strategies, and licence applications.

  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.

  • Write clear, insightful reports and proposals in collaboration with senior colleagues.

  • Represent the consultancy in client and stakeholder meetings, offering ecological and biodiversity expertise.

  • Support business development through CPDs, technical articles, and thought leadership initiatives.

 What We’re Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field.

  • Full membership of CIEEM.

  • 5+ years’ experience in ecological consultancy or a similar role.

  • Strong working knowledge of BNG metrics, QGIS, and ecological assessment methodologies.

  • Excellent report writing, organisation, and communication skills.

  • A passion for sustainability and a collaborative, proactive approach.

  • Protected species licences (desirable) and mitigation experience.

  • Strong client management and commercial awareness.

  • Proficiency in standard IT tools and ecological reporting systems.

 What’s on Offer

Our client takes care of their people. You’ll enjoy:

  • A competitive salary plus potential discretionary bonus.

  • 23 days annual leave, plus Christmas shutdown and bank holidays.

  • Dedicated training and development budget for professional and personal growth.

  • Hybrid working, including the option to work abroad for some the year
  • 2 volunteer days during the year

  • Access to an online benefits platform — discounts, wellness services, GP access, gym membership and more.

  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay and flexible working options.

  • Pension contributions and a Cycle to Work scheme.

  • Opportunities to influence industry best practice through professional body working groups.

  • Regular socials
