About the Role

At Ocean to Earth Recruitment, we represent consultancies that share our commitment to Integrity, Respect, and Growth, with a vision to elevate green growth through sustainable engineering and environmental solutions.

We’re proud to be working with a specialist Engineering and Environmental Consultancy that has been providing expert technical advice to the quarrying, construction, and waste sectors for over 40 years. They are a compact yet highly skilled organisation involved in nationally significant projects, known for their collaborative culture where knowledge is shared and ambition is recognised.

Their work includes assessing the impacts of both current and historic activities on the environment, preparing applications for regulatory consents, designing remediation and control measures, and monitoring implementation to ensure the highest standards of environmental protection.

With a growing workload, they are now seeking a Senior Consultant – Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer to play a key role in delivering and managing geotechnical projects across the UK.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of geotechnical and geological projects, providing technical leadership, project management, and mentoring to colleagues. You’ll split your time between office-based technical review, client support, and site-based supervision.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading stability assessments for natural and engineered slopes at quarries, landfills, and infrastructure sites.

  • Designing and overseeing earthworks, remediation measures, and engineered slope solutions.

  • Supervising drilling, borehole logging, liner and capping installations, and QA processes on site.

  • Reviewing technical work from colleagues, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and quality.

  • Supporting and mentoring junior staff both in office and in the field.

  • Managing projects from concept to completion—budgets, deadlines, and client communications.

  • Preparing proposals, tenders, and contract documentation for major projects.

  • Attending client and regulatory meetings, providing technical expertise and clear communication.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced and driven professional with a strong technical background and the ability to lead projects with confidence.

  • Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or Civil Engineering (BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng, or equivalent).

  • Chartered or working towards chartership (GeolSoc, ICE, or equivalent).

  • Significant experience in slope stability, remediation, landfill design, and geotechnical investigations.

  • Proficiency in geotechnical modelling software (e.g., SlopeW) and CAD/terrain modelling (e.g., LSS).

  • Strong track record in project management, NEC contracts, and financial control.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience reviewing technical outputs.

  • Full UK driving licence.

What’s on Offer

You’ll be joining a consultancy with a long-standing reputation for excellence, where you’ll have the freedom to lead projects, shape technical delivery, and develop your career in a supportive and close-knit team.

  • Competitive salary (DOE)

  • Exposure to nationally significant projects across the UK

  • Career development with support toward chartership

  • Opportunities to mentor and line manage junior colleagues

  • A collaborative culture where your expertise and ambition are recognised

🌍 This is your chance to take a senior role at a respected consultancy where your technical skills can directly shape sustainable solutions.
If you’re ready to make an impact, we’d love to hear from you.
