About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior BNG Advisor to play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality Biodiversity Net Gain services within a forward-thinking environmental consultancy.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with mentoring, quality assurance, and strategic input. You’ll work closely with senior leaders and technical specialists to help evolve BNG services as policy, guidance and practice continue to develop.

What you’ll be doing

Supporting the development of internal and external BNG resources to improve knowledge sharing and streamline processes

Quality assuring a wide range of biodiversity deliverables, including:

BNG feasibility assessments

Full BNG assessments
-
Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans (HMMPs)

Biodiversity Gain Plans and associated documentation
-

Identifying internal and external knowledge gaps and supporting professional development initiatives

Contributing to training delivery and mentoring of colleagues

Working with senior leadership to help shape and refine the organisation’s BNG service offering

Supporting client and stakeholder consultation, including engagement with planning authorities

Staying up to date with emerging BNG guidance, policy and relevant case law
-
Collaborating with accredited surveyors to support surveys and improve methodological approaches

Leading on quality assurance while also producing BNG assessments for complex or high-risk sites, including challenging HMMPs
What we’re looking for

Strong understanding of how Biodiversity Net Gain operates within the planning system

Experience undertaking botanical surveys and applying UKHab classifications
-
Familiarity with GIS software and digital field data capture tools (experience with Coreo is advantageous)

Awareness of current BNG guidance, legislation and case law
-
Experience or knowledge of habitat banks and the practical management of habitats for biodiversity (desirable)

A collaborative approach, with the confidence to provide technical leadership and mentoring
What’s on offer

Salary: £39,390 – £46,590 per annum

Additional London weighting allowance where applicable

A 4-day working week, paid at the equivalent of 5 days (80% time, 100% pay)
