Ocean to Earth Recruitment is proud to be supporting a leading marine environmental consultancy in the search for a Principal Consultant specialising in Marine Mammals.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected consultancy working at the forefront of offshore renewables, marine infrastructure and environmental assessment. The business has played a key role in supporting major offshore wind developments and wider marine projects across the UK and internationally, contributing to projects that are helping shape the future of renewable energy.

The role offers the opportunity to work on some of the most significant and technically complex marine infrastructure projects in the sector, supporting the delivery of offshore wind, tidal energy, interconnector and port development schemes.

The Opportunity

As Principal Consultant, you will play a leading role within the Marine Mammal team, delivering high-level technical advice, managing complex assessments and supporting the continued growth of the marine consultancy offering.

This position combines technical leadership, project management, stakeholder engagement and business development, making it well suited to an experienced marine mammal specialist looking to influence major renewable energy and marine infrastructure projects.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, regulators, clients and stakeholders, while mentoring junior consultants and helping shape the future direction of marine mammal services within the business.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading marine mammal workstreams across major offshore projects
• Supporting EIA and HRA processes for marine infrastructure developments
• Delivering technical assessments, mitigation strategies and monitoring programmes
• Supporting consent applications and post-consent environmental requirements
• Reviewing and signing off technical reports and deliverables
• Leading and mentoring consultants within the marine mammal team
• Managing client relationships and stakeholder engagement
• Preparing and supporting tenders, proposals and scopes of work
• Project management across multidisciplinary teams and complex programmes
• Supporting business development and growth within the renewables sector
• Attending industry conferences, networking and technical events
• Supporting resource planning and strategic team development

About You

The ideal candidate will bring strong marine mammal expertise, commercial awareness and leadership capability, alongside a genuine passion for supporting sustainable marine development.

They are looking for someone with:

• A degree, ideally MSc level, in a marine environmental or ecological discipline
• Strong experience delivering EIAs and HRAs for marine infrastructure projects
• Excellent understanding of marine mammal impact assessment, underwater noise and mitigation approaches
• Knowledge of UK and Ireland marine mammal legislation and policy
• Experience working with regulators, stakeholders and clients
• Strong project management and organisational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience mentoring or managing consultants and project teams
• Consultancy experience within offshore renewables or marine infrastructure
• Experience supporting business development and securing project work
• Professional accreditation desirable
• Experience within offshore renewables highly beneficial
• MMO and PAM qualifications advantageous
• Experience using modelling tools such as iPCOD, DEPONS or Collision Risk Modelling beneficial
