About the Role

Are you a highly organised operations professional who enjoys creating structure, improving processes and keeping a growing business running smoothly behind the scenes? Do you want your work to contribute to positive environmental outcomes?

We are looking for an experienced Office Manager / Operations Manager to support the day-to-day running of a friendly, fast-growing ecological and environmental consultancy. The team delivers specialist services that help protect biodiversity, inform sustainable development and support nature-positive projects across the UK.

This is a varied, hands-on role focused on operations, administration, HR support and health & safety compliance, ideal for someone who thrives on systems, detail and continuous improvement.

The Role

You’ll play a central role in ensuring the business operates efficiently, safely and professionally. Acting as the organisational backbone of the office, you’ll coordinate processes, maintain compliance, and provide essential HR and administrative support to the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

Office & Operations

  • Oversee smooth day-to-day office operations and administration

  • Manage facilities, suppliers, equipment, IT coordination and office logistics

  • Maintain and improve internal systems, processes and documentation

  • Support project teams with scheduling, travel, and general operational needs

  • Identify inefficiencies and implement practical improvements to ways of working

HR Support (administrative)

  • Coordinate recruitment logistics (adverts, interview scheduling, onboarding paperwork)

  • Maintain employee records and HR documentation

  • Support inductions and training administration

  • Assist with policy updates and compliance

  • Act as a first point of contact for routine HR queries, escalating where needed

Health & Safety

  • Maintain health & safety procedures and documentation

  • Support risk assessments and compliance for both office and field-based work

  • Coordinate inductions and ensure policies are kept up to date

Process Improvement

  • Review and refine operational workflows

  • Introduce clear procedures and best practice systems to support growth

  • Provide administrative and operational support to senior leadership

About You

You’ll likely bring:

  • Experience in office or operations management, business support, or similar roles

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Experience supporting HR processes and compliance

  • Confidence managing multiple priorities independently

  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset

  • Interest in sustainability or the environmental sector (desirable)

What is on Offer

  • The opportunity to work in a purpose-driven organisation within the environmental and ecological sector

  • A varied role with real responsibility and scope to shape internal systems

  • Supportive, collaborative team culture

  • Opportunities to grow with the business

  • Competitive salary and benefits package

If you enjoy building efficient systems, supporting teams behind the scenes, and want your work to contribute to meaningful environmental outcomes, we’d love to hear from you.
