About the Role

The Opportunity

If you're a Landscape Architect who enjoys designing places that leave a lasting positive impact, but you're looking for greater variety, more autonomy or the chance to work alongside a genuinely multidisciplinary team, this could be worth exploring.

An established environmental consultancy is looking to welcome either a Landscape Architect or Senior Landscape Architect into its Manchester studio. Whether you're ready to take the next step in your career or you're already operating at senior level, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to a broad range of projects from concept through to delivery, shaping places that balance high-quality design with environmental responsibility.

This is an opportunity to join a supportive team where collaboration is encouraged, ideas are valued and career development happens naturally through interesting work rather than rigid hierarchies.

The Company

This independent multidisciplinary consultancy brings together landscape architects, urban designers, ecologists, arboriculturists and biodiversity specialists to deliver thoughtful, sustainable developments across the UK.

Known for its collaborative culture and high technical standards, the business works across residential, commercial, public realm and leisure projects, providing its people with genuine variety and the opportunity to influence projects from the earliest stages through to completion.

Professional development is actively supported, and the team takes pride in creating an environment where people can develop their expertise while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll play an important role in designing landscapes that enhance both communities and the natural environment. Depending on your experience, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing creative landscape designs across a diverse range of projects.

  • Working through all Landscape Institute and RIBA work stages from concept to delivery.

  • Producing high-quality technical drawings, reports and presentation material.

  • Collaborating closely with in-house ecology, arboriculture, biodiversity and urban design specialists.

  • Leading projects and managing client relationships as your experience allows.

  • Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues while helping maintain excellent technical standards.

About You

You'll already have experience working within a UK landscape architecture consultancy and enjoy combining creative thinking with technical delivery.

You'll likely bring:

  • A degree in Landscape Architecture.

  • Strong design ability alongside sound technical knowledge.

  • Experience using AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp.

  • An understanding of UK planning processes and environmental legislation.

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to project delivery.

For those considering the Senior Landscape Architect position, you'll also have experience leading projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and building strong client relationships. Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute (CMLI), or being on the pathway towards Chartership, would be welcomed.

Experience of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) or NBS Specification Manager would be advantageous but isn't essential.

What's on Offer

Alongside a competitive salary, you'll benefit from an environment that supports both your professional development and your wellbeing, including:

  • Hybrid and flexible working.

  • A varied portfolio of landscape-led projects across the UK.

  • Ongoing technical development and structured career progression.

  • Opportunities to take on greater responsibility and leadership.

  • Payment of one professional membership each year.

  • Training and continued professional development.

  • Cycle to Work Scheme.

  • Technology Scheme.

  • Workplace pension.

  • Free eye tests.

  • Discounted leisure centre membership.

  • Access to company vehicles.

  • Generous annual leave that increases with length of service.

Location & Flexibility

Based in Manchester, the role offers hybrid working, providing flexibility between office, home and project locations while remaining part of a collaborative and supportive team.
