About the Role

We are looking for a motivated individual to join their team and take on a variety of exciting projects. The work is diverse, but the core focus areas include:

  • Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA)
  • Providing expert advice to local authorities on planning applications, such as reviewing LVIA for wind energy applications or acting as expert witnesses
  • Landscape studies, including capacity assessments, character assessments, and green belt reviews

In addition, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of other projects, collaborating with clients and colleagues. These include:

  • Developing landscape strategies for large housing developments
  • Soft works design and mitigation for planning applications (up to RIBA Stage 3)
  • Feasibility studies for active travel projects (cycling and walking routes)
  • Open space assessments and strategies

About the Business

Our client is a well-established consultancy known for delivering high-quality environmental, engineering, and design solutions across Scotland and the UK. They work on diverse and impactful projects, offering services in landscape planning, environmental assessment, infrastructure design, and more. Joining their team will give you the opportunity to work on impactful projects that shape sustainable environments and influence key planning and development decisions.

About You

Our client is open to various backgrounds, but ideally, you will have:

  • A degree in Landscape Architecture and at least a few years of experience, with a strong interest in landscape planning over design
  • Experience with LVIA and knowledge of GLVIA3
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS
  • A willingness to travel for site visits, often to remote locations, for LVIA photography
  • A valid driving licence
  • The ability to work regularly from their Edinburgh office (around 3 days per week) and travel within Scotland for site visits

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied workload, has a passion for landscape planning, and is eager to contribute to a wide range of meaningful projects.
