About the Role

Experienced Landscape Planner

Manchester or Leeds | Full-time or Part-time | Hybrid Working

The Opportunity

If you're an experienced Landscape Planner who's beginning to wonder what's next, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Perhaps you're looking for greater influence over the projects you lead, more responsibility, or the chance to help shape a growing landscape planning team rather than simply delivering work within one. Maybe you're ready to move away from the layers of bureaucracy that can come with larger organisations and join a practice where your ideas, expertise and ambitions can genuinely make a difference.

This is an opportunity to become part of one of the UK's most respected independent landscape consultancies, working on nationally significant projects while enjoying the autonomy, support and career progression that experienced professionals value.

Whether you're looking for a full-time or part-time role, you'll join a collaborative team delivering work that has a lasting influence on landscapes, communities and the future of sustainable development.

The Company

This established multidisciplinary landscape practice has been shaping places across the UK and internationally for decades. Employee wellbeing, long-term careers and collaborative working are central to its culture, reflected in the number of people who have built their careers here over many years.

The business works across a diverse portfolio spanning renewable energy, major infrastructure, residential development, protected landscapes and public sector projects. Their reputation has been built on technical excellence, creative thinking and a genuine commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes.

As an independent practice, decisions are made by the people within the business, allowing teams to respond quickly to new opportunities, invest in their people and continue developing specialist expertise.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll play an important role in helping to grow an established landscape planning team while leading projects from inception through to delivery.

Your work will include:

  • Leading Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs), landscape character assessments and sensitivity studies.

  • Advising clients throughout the planning and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process.

  • Managing projects across sectors including energy, infrastructure, residential and protected landscapes.

  • Mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the continued growth of the team.

  • Building trusted relationships with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.

About You

You'll already have a strong background in UK landscape planning and enjoy combining technical expertise with practical problem-solving.

You're likely to be a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute with experience delivering Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments and a good understanding of the UK planning system.

Just as importantly, you'll enjoy working with people. Whether that's mentoring colleagues, developing client relationships or helping to shape the direction of projects, you're someone who values collaboration as much as technical quality.

If you're looking for a role where your experience will be recognised and where progression is based on ability rather than hierarchy, you'll feel at home here.

What's on Offer

Alongside a competitive salary, you'll benefit from a package designed to support both your career and your wellbeing, including:

  • Hybrid working with two days working from home each week.

  • Flexible working hours to help maintain a healthy work-life balance.

  • A clear pathway for career progression and leadership development.

  • Exposure to a wide variety of high-profile and meaningful projects.

  • Payment of professional membership fees.

  • Enhanced annual leave increasing with service.

  • Life assurance.

  • Workplace pension.

  • Cycle to Work scheme.

  • Employee Assistance Programme.

  • Volunteer day each year.

  • Employee benefits platform offering a wide range of lifestyle and wellbeing discounts.

  • A supportive, sociable studio environment with regular team events.

Location & Flexibility

This role can be based from either the Manchester or Leeds studio and is available on a full-time or part-time basis. Hybrid working and flexible hours are fully supported, helping you balance your career with life outside work.

If you're curious to find out more, we'd be delighted to have a confidential conversation.
