About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment are proud to be supporting a forward-thinking, purpose-driven ecology consultancy as they continue to grow their core team. With an established reputation built on decades of industry expertise, strong client relationships, and consistently high-quality delivery, this is a rare opportunity to join at an exciting stage of development.

The Opportunity

We’re looking to connect with experienced Ecologists or Senior Ecologists who are ready to step into a role with real impact. You’ll be involved in diverse ecological projects, take ownership of delivery, and play a key part in shaping the consultancy’s future alongside its highly experienced directors.

This isn’t just another consultancy role — it’s a chance to help build something new, with autonomy, flexibility, and the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead ecological surveys, reporting, and project delivery

  • Manage client relationships and contribute to business development

  • Produce high-quality technical reports (PEAs, EcIAs, ES Chapters, BNG Assessments, HRAs, mitigation strategies)

  • Support or lead protected species licence applications

  • Mentor junior colleagues and foster a collaborative team culture

  • Work closely with directors on company growth and strategy

About You

You’ll be enthusiastic, proactive, and collaborative, with the confidence to take responsibility quickly and the drive to build your own portfolio of work.

Essential:

  • Relevant degree (or equivalent) in ecology, environmental science, or a related subject

  • Proven ecological consultancy experience (c. 3+ years)

  • Strong project management and client liaison skills

  • Excellent technical knowledge with protected species and/or botanical survey skills

  • Demonstrable experience of producing professional ecological reports

  • Full driving licence and access to transport (or ability to travel independently to sites)

Desirable:

  • At least one protected species licence

  • FISC level 4 (or equivalent botanical skills)

  • Full or associate CIEEM membership (or similar professional body)

Why Join?

This consultancy offers the chance to do things differently — a supportive, people-first culture, flexibility, and genuine progression opportunities. You’ll benefit from:

  • The chance to shape the direction of a growing consultancy

  • Collaboration with respected ecologists and industry experts

  • A positive, supportive, and inclusive team environment

  • Structured progression pathways, training budgets, and professional membership support

  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including TOIL, discretionary bonuses, profit share (eligibility applies), generous pension contributions, health care plan, and cycle-to-work scheme

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, Christmas closure, increasing holiday with service, and the option to buy or sell days

  • Hybrid and flexible working with a strong emphasis on work-life balance

Location & Flexibility

With offices in Leeds and Stroud, we’re looking for candidates within commuting distance of either base. While projects span across England and Wales (with some travel and overnight stays), the consultancy takes a flexible approach, always mindful of maintaining a healthy balance for its people.
