About the Role
We are seeking an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to join a growing and dynamic ecology team in Dorking. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious ecologist ready to take the next step in their career, work on complex and rewarding projects, and be part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary environment.
The Role
You will play a key part in delivering high-quality ecological services, collaborating with ecologists, landscape architects, and environmental planners. Core responsibilities include:

Leading and conducting ecological surveys (protected species, habitat assessments, biodiversity audits).

Preparing ecological reports, EIAs, EcIAs, and HRAs.

Designing and implementing mitigation and enhancement measures.

Providing expert ecological advice to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.

Developing strong client and stakeholder relationships.
About You
To be successful in this role, you should bring:

A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline.

At least 3 years’ experience in ecological consultancy.

Strong knowledge of UK ecology legislation, policy, and best practice.

Experience with a broad range of surveys and associated reporting.

Good understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain and the DEFRA Metric.

One or more protected species licences (desirable).
-
Membership or eligibility for CIEEM.

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Salary: £26,000 – £32,000 (Ecologist) / £32,000 – £36,000 (Senior Ecologist), depending on experience.
