About the Role
Are you an Ecologist looking for a role where you can develop your technical skills, take on greater responsibility and grow your career within a supportive multidisciplinary consultancy?
Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with a well-established environmental and engineering consultancy looking to grow its Ecology team in Inverness.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a developing team, working alongside another Ecologist while also collaborating with specialists across the wider environmental and engineering business. You will gain exposure to a varied portfolio of projects across Scotland, with genuine scope to develop as the ecology team continues to grow.
The role
Depending on your level of experience, you will be involved in:
- Phase 1 habitat surveys and wider ecological assessments
- Protected species surveys and monitoring
- Producing PEAs, EcIAs, HRAs, method statements and other ecological reports
- Supporting Species Protection Plans and mitigation strategies
- Ecological Clerk of Works duties on construction projects
- Working across a range of Scottish habitats and project environments
- Liaising with colleagues, clients and other environmental specialists
- Supporting project delivery and, at Senior level, mentoring more junior colleagues
There is also scope to develop experience in areas such as project management, Biodiversity Net Gain, habitat management, GIS and stakeholder engagement. Protected species licences, ornithology experience and experience working in upland environments would all be welcomed, but you do not need to bring everything from day one.
About you
You will ideally have a degree in Ecology or a related discipline, some professional ecology experience and a good grounding in habitat and protected species survey work.
For the Senior level, we would expect stronger consultancy experience, report writing capability and the confidence to take greater responsibility for surveys, projects and technical delivery.
A full UK driving licence is required, and membership of CIEEM or another relevant professional body would be advantageous.
